Hamilton 2017 - Canada 150 Events Round-Up
HAMILTON, ON - March 31, 2017 - This year, Hamilton joins cities across the country to celebrate Canada’s 150th year as a nation. Below is a list of upcoming events. Organizers of local Canada 150 events are encouraged to promote their event via an online form on the City of Hamilton’s website.
Hope Night in Canada

6:30 to 10 pm
Multiple Juno Award-Winning Musician and proud Canadian, Chantal Kreviazuk will headline our Hope Night in Canada charity fundraiser to benefit the Charity of Hope on March 31, 2017 at Carmen's Banquet Centre. At our event, entitled Hope Night in Canada, we will be celebrating Canada’s 150th Anniversary as well as raising money for children and youth in the Hamilton community. Event cost $80.

Join us as we close out our Canada@150 Speaker Series. Guest speaker, Christopher Moore, award-winning historian and author of 1867: How the Fathers Made a Deal, will give a public talk about Canada's 150th. Event is free.
Easter Bunny Hop & Seek
534 Concession Street, Hamilton

Different locations along Concession Street corresponding to the address of the vintage image being displayed).
Enjoy our historic art installation, "A Walk Down Memory Lane", for Canada 150 that will be displayed for the Easter Bunny Hop & Seek. View historic pictures displayed in large format directly in front of their original Concession Street address. Children are invited to visit Concession businesses between Upper Wentworth and East 25th to collect Easter chocolate treats. The first 100 kids will receive free bunny ears. Live music will take place at CAP (569 Concession under the pergola). Artisanal vendors also invited to participate and sidewalk sales from our merchants. Event is free.
Exhibit: From ‘The Ark’ – Ancaster 150

Join the Farmer family as they journey from “The Ark” of family lore through 150 years of life in Ancaster. Explore how their world changed between 1867 and 2017, and discover key points in National History. Family: $10.00 Adults: $3.50, Seniors/Youth: $3.00, Children: $2.50, Infants: Free.

Battlefield Monumental Challenge 150
Battlefield House Museum & Park, 77 King Street West, Stoney Creek
May 6 & 7, 2017
Time: 12 noon to 4 pm
Challenge yourself to walk up to the observation deck of the Battlefield Monument in honour of Canada’s 150th birthday. The first 150 registered participants will be given an official “Canada 150” logo pin to mark their achievement and contribution to Canada’s birthday celebration. This activity may help you meet your “ParticipACTION 150” goals. Rain or Shine. Registration begins at 11:30 a.m. on both May 6 and 7 at the Park. Free entrance.

Our Hamilton: Through Their Eyes

Gain insight into the lives of soldiers who protected the freedom of all Canadians in commemoration of our Nation’s 150th Anniversary. The effects of the First World War were so far-reaching that they impacted the lives of every Hamiltonian. Follow the course of Hamilton’s involvement from the initial ‘call to arms’ to the post-war period through treasures from the collections of the Museum including letters, photos and personal items owned by Hamiltonians, and experience the war Through Their Eyes. Sesquicentennial Quilt

To honour Canada’s Sesquicentennial, the ‘Fieldcote Quilters’ are creating a special commemorative quilt. Members of the community are invited to submit quilt blocks based on the theme: “What Canada Means to Me”. The Quilt will be unveiled during Canada 150 Open House weekend.
