Hamilton announces new City Manager
HAMILTON, ON – Mayor Fred Eisenberger, on behalf of council, is very pleased to announce that Janette Smith has been unanimously chosen as the City of Hamilton’s new City Manager.
Ms. Smith has had extensive experience during her 30-year tenure at the Region of Peel. She served in various senior leadership roles including Commissioner of Public Works, Commissioner of Health Services and currently sits on the Community Climate Change Partnership and the Metrolinx Municipal Planning Leaders Forum.
A graduate from the University of Waterloo’s Bachelor of Science program, Ms. Smith also holds a Master of Health Science, Community Health from the University of Toronto.
On Wednesday, March 27, Ms. Smith will be introduced to Council who will rise and appoint her as the new City Manager, and accordingly, the By-Law appointing the new City Manager will be executed. Following council, a media availability will be held.
Council would like to thank Mike Zegarac for serving as Interim City Manager and providing wonderful leadership over the past nine months.
