Hamilton celebrates 5th annual Garden Days on June 16, 2017

HAMILTON, ON - June 14, 2017 -  What does a garden mean to you? For some Hamiltonians, who are all “green thumbs,” the opportunity to celebrate Garden Days on June 16, 2017 is a must do. This national event gives Canadians the opportunity to enjoy their own creative gardens, visit public displays and get inspired by the beauty of gardens from across the country. The coast-to-coast celebration is held annually on the Friday before Father’s Day. The highly popular event began in 2013.

Garden Days tours

The City of Hamilton is hosting guided, hourly tours and other activities between 9 am to 3 pm at Gage Park and Sam Lawrence Park on Friday, June 16, 2017. Visitors can view and understand better the various trees, shrubs, and perennials in the city. 

Gage Park tours include the rose garden, the restored limestone fountain and plenty of beautifully maintained flower beds.  Sam Lawrence Park visitors will enjoy flower beds along the side of the escarpment with blasts of colour from annuals, perennials and shrubs, not to mention a spectacular view of the City of Hamilton and the bay.

Hamilton garden centres, horticultural and plant societies, garden clubs and garden-related businesses and communities are invited to organize their own Garden Days activities or events to highlight the importance of public and private gardens.
