It’s National Tree Day: See the value of our trees

HAMILTON, ON - September 21, 2016 - About 150 of Hamilton’s trees look a little different this morning. Earlier today, “value tags” were tied to trees throughout the City to help residents understand and appreciate the value of this natural resource.

In celebration of National Tree Day, the City has partnered with TD Canada Trust to tie the tags on trees at these locations:

• along Burlington Street (between Gage Avenue North & Ottawa Street North)
• on Upper Wentworth (between Lime Ridge Shopping Centre and T.B. McQuesten Community Park)
• on several trees in Gage Park

Trees are an important part of our City and provide many great benefits to create healthier more sustainable and beautiful communities. Learn more about the benefits of trees.

Also in celebration of National Tree Day, a tree planting ceremony will be held at 10 am at T.B. McQuesten Community Park at 1199 Upper Wentworth Street. Representatives from TD Canada Trust and the Keep Hamilton Clean & Green Committee will be in attendance.

Street Tree Planting program

Residents in Hamilton are encouraged to participate in the Street Tree Planting Program, which offers free trees to homeowners in Hamilton. The trees are planted on City-owned road allowance. To learn more or to submit a free tree request visit www.hamilton.ca/treeplanting.
