July Events at Hamilton Civic Museums

A Place to Belong: Free Admission to Hamilton Civic Museums - Sunday, July 2
Offered in partnership with Hamilton Community Foundation. Hamilton Community Foundation is marking Canada’s 150th birthday weekend by inviting the public to discover all that Hamilton has to offer.
Admission at Hamilton Civic Museums will be FREE on July 2 along with many other cultural, recreational and historical sites across the city.
- Battlefield House Museum and Park Noon to 4 pm
Enjoy the spectacular view from the Battlefield Monument, the 100 foot tall memorial built in the early 20 century and visit the site of the Battle of Stoney Creek and where the Gage family lived until 1835. Guided tours of the museum and the Nash Jackson building will be provided throughout the afternoon. - Dundurn National Historic Site Noon to 4 pm
Costumed staff will be stationed throughout the museum to offer the history of the site as well as invite you to try some hands-on activities. Don’t forget to visit Dundurn’s Kitchen Garden. Garden Demonstrators will provide guided tours at 12:30pm and 2:00pm. Admission to Hamilton Military Museum will also be free. - Music at Fieldcote – Free Outdoor Concert 7 to 9 pm
Enjoy a memorable outdoor performance at the band shell and celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday with special guest, jazz-soul vocalist Michael Dunston. Please bring your own lawn chair or a blanket. - Griffin House National Historic Site Noon to 4 pm
Visit this preserved early 19th century home, set on a hilltop overlooking the beautiful Dundas Valley. Explore the history of Enerals Griffin and other early Black settlers, and enjoy a walk along nearby trails.
- Hamilton Children’s Museum 11 am to 4 pm
Children and their families are invited to explore three differently themed galleries and create crafts on this day. Come build, explore and discover. - Hamilton Museum of Steam & Technology 11 am to 5 pm

Families can join the Confederation Marine Modellers, the Canadian Modeling Association for Meccano and Allied Systems, the Hamilton Model Engineering Club and the Golden Horseshoe Live Steamers in celebrating the 150th anniversary of Confederation. Enjoy the great variety of boats, visit with the builders and operators as they cruise around the pond. Catch a ride on a miniature train on the scale model railway. Marvel at moving Meccano models and working model engines and take a walk through the 1859 steam powered Pump-House - a truly memorable historical experience. - Whitehern Historic House & Garden National Historic Site Noon to 4 pm
Party Like it's 1939! Experience a 1930s style carnival planned on the manicured gardens around Whitehern. The whole family can enjoy games with prizes, refreshments and free entertainment. Discover one of the finest examples of an intact historic home in Canada and home to three generations of the McQuesten family.
