Mountain townhouse damaged in early morning fire
HAMILTON, ON – December 29, 2016 – Fire crews responded at 3:48 am this morning to a multi- unit, residential attached townhouse located at 110 Essling Ave for a reported fire in unit 26. upon arrival firefighters found the unit to be well involved with fire and a multiple alarm was then initiated to bring additional fire crews to the scene to assist in suppression.
All of the occupants, two adults and three children, were out of the house on arrival of firefighters.
Firefighters worked quickly and were able to effect a successful knockdown and extinguishment of the fire on all floor levels with no fire spread to the adjacent units.
Damage to unit 26 is extensive and estimated at $300,000 in total. There were no injuries to the public or firefighters.
An investigator from the Fire Marshal’s Office has been called in to assist in determining the cause of the fire. The Red Cross was also called to the scene to assist tenants with alternate accommodation.
