Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine supply limited in Hamilton
DECEMBER 20 2021
HAMILTON, ON - As of December 21, 2021, the Pfizer BioNTech mRNA COVID-19 vaccine supply will become limited across all Hamilton COVID-19 vaccine clinics. The Pfizer mRNA COVID-19 vaccine will be reserved for those individuals under the age of 30 for 1st, 2nd and 3rd doses until further notice. Individuals over the age of 30 will be offered the Moderna mRNA COVID-19 vaccine when arriving at a vaccine clinic. We will continue to work with the Province to procure more Pfizer BioNTech supply as it is made available.
Mixing COVID-19 vaccines is safe, effective, and enables Ontarians to benefit from the protection of a booster dose. Both the Moderna and Pfizer COVID-19 vaccines provide strong protection against COVID-19 and its variants.
Public Health Services recommends that everyone who is eligible for a vaccination receive the first vaccine that is available to them. We need to work together to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in our community, to reserve healthcare and hospital capacity and to protect vulnerable populations
Hamilton Public Health Services continues to work closely with hospital, primary care, pharmacy, Hamilton Paramedic Service and other community organizations to offer COVID-19 vaccine to all eligible community members with health equity principles at the foundation of Hamilton’s vaccine program.
