Pier 8 Promenade Park design proposals to be revealed tomorrow

HAMILTON, ON - August 23, 2017 - Tomorrow, on August 24, the public will get the first opportunity to view the design concepts created by the shortlisted design teams for the Pier 8 Promenade Park design competition. The reveal will take place at a showcase from 12:45 to 4:30 pm at the Art Gallery of Hamilton in the Joey and Toby Tanenbaum Pavilion.

Design concepts

The six design concepts and design teams:

Proposal 1: “Hamilton: Hammer City”

View the designs & provide your comments

Members of the public are invited to review the design concepts and provide comment on how well the designs incorporated the park vision, design objectives and program elements. Proposals will be available for public viewing and comment from August 25 until September 10.

Jury will select winning concept in September following public consultation 

A volunteer jury of experts will select the winning design based on design excellence, innovation, response to the vision and goals for the park, and community opinions. The winning design will be announced to the public in late September. A report explaining the jury’s decision making process will be publicly released after the winning design is announced.

Construction on the park is anticipated to begin in spring 2018.
