Portion of Bay Street closed beginning Monday
HAMILTON, ON – As part of the Central Neighbourhood upgrades project in the downtown core, the City of Hamilton will close Bay Street between York Boulevard and Barton Street West beginning Monday, October 25 for approximately three weeks.
The closure is expected to wrap up on or before November 11, 2021, weather permitting.
The scope of work includes:
- Intersection improvements at the corner of Bay St N and Mulberry St as well as Bay St N and Sheaffe St
- The installation of a pedestrian crossover at Bay St N and Mulberry St
- Watermain and sewer replacement
- Road and sidewalk reconstruction
- Road resurfacing
Motorists should follow signs for detour using James Street South.
Cyclists should follow signs for detour using MacNab Street North.
There will be no impacts to Cannon St W as a result of this closure.
Local access will be maintained throughout the work.
