Updated: April 12, 2022
HAMILTON, ON - On Monday, April 4, the City of Hamilton will close Cannon St W between MacNab St N and Bay St N in order to complete work at the Park St and Cannon St W intersection as part of the Central Neighbourhood upgrades project in the downtown core.
A brief summary of the Central Neighbourhood upgrades include:
- Watermain and sewer replacement
- Road and sidewalk reconstruction
- Road resurfacing
- Intersection improvements
Work is expected to take approximately four weeks to complete and will wrap up on or before May 2, 2022, weather permitting.
Motorists and cyclists should follow signs for detour. Motorists and HSR passengers should expect delays along Cannon St W and should allow extra time on their commute. Local access will be maintained but there will be no through access at the Park St and Cannon St W intersection. There will be limited on-street parking availability during construction.
Businesses in the area will remain open throughout the duration of the construction. Residents and businesses impacted by noise, dust or changes in water services will be notified in advance.
The City of Hamilton thanks motorists, pedestrians and cyclists for their patience as we complete these important infrastructure upgrades.
