Public Consultation available for the redevelopment of Macassa Lodge Long-Term Care Home
HAMILTON, ON – Beginning January 10, 2022, the Ministry of Long-Term Care (MLTC) will be offering a public consultation opportunity for members of the community to provide feedback on the proposed redevelopment plan for Macassa Lodge.
The proposal involves:
- the redevelopment of 44 existing beds at the Home’s current location;
- the development of 20 additional LTC beds approved by the ministry to be included in the proposed 64-bed project that will result in a 290-bed home, subject to meeting all licensing requirements under the Long-Term Care Homes Act, 2007;
- the issuance of an amended LTC Home Approval for the operation of 290 beds, following the completion of the project.
Public opinion is being sought prior to a final decision being made relating to this proposal. As part of the MLTC’s review, the Director will consider all written and oral submissions before making a final decision relating to the proposal.
More information regarding the consultation, including a frequently asked questions and how to participate in the public consultation opportunity can be found at Ontario’s long-term care licensing public consultation registry.
The City of Hamilton is dedicated to providing residents with safe and efficient long-term care facilities. The renovations at Macassa Lodge will give residents a new up-to-date facility featuring larger and more comfortable spaces throughout.
