HAMILTON, ON – Today, the City of Hamilton opened registration for the 2019 Our Future Hamilton Summit. The fourth annual summit will take place on November 5, 2019 from 8:30 am to 12:30 pm at LIUNA Station, 360 James Street North, Hamilton.
Our Future Hamilton is the city’s 25-year community vision to address six key priorities in Hamilton: Community Engagement and Participation, Economic Prosperity and Growth, Healthy and Safe Communities, Clean and Green, Built Environment and Infrastructure, and Culture and Diversity.
The 2019 summit will focus on the theme of “Preparing Today for the Jobs of Tomorrow”. Summit attendees will explore key trends that could impact the future of Canada’s labour market over the next 10 to 15 years and how these changes may affect future skill demands in Hamilton. Residents and stakeholders will also have an opportunity to discuss current barriers to employment opportunities in Hamilton and share insights on how we can address them.
“Preparing the workforce of today for the jobs of tomorrow is the aim of the 2019 Our Future Hamilton Summit. This is vitally important, particularly as Hamilton’s economy expands into new emerging industries and the demands of existing industries continue to evolve. The summit will provide an opportunity to come together to discuss the forecasted character of Hamilton’s future workforce and how to ensure that we are all prepared to meet the employment requirements of tomorrow. The work of the summit will help to ensure that all Hamiltonians are positioned for success in light of ever-evolving employment demands.”- Mayor Fred Eisenberger, City of Hamilton
The summit will feature several keynote speakers, including Jason Thorne, General Manager of Economic Development at the City of Hamilton, who will expand on the topic of economic growth and prosperity with their professional knowledge and experience.
