Share your ideas on ways to ready Hamilton for future growth
HAMILTON, ON – Join the City of Hamilton for an Open House discussion about the future growth of our city. To plan for this growth, there are two processes underway – GRIDS 2 (Growth Related Integrated Development Strategy) and the MCR (Municipal Comprehensive Review). The City will examine Hamilton’s growth to the year 2041 including intensification and density, employment lands and evaluating future growth options. The drop-in, open format discussion will allow citizens to attend numerous sessions. While there’s no formal presentation, citizens will be able to ask questions and provide their feedback throughout the Open House. To accommodate schedules, the City is hosting both afternoon and evening sessions on each topic. The feedback will assist staff in preparing future recommendations on a number of important topics.
Sessions will look at planning for population and employment growth in Hamilton from 2031 to 2041. They will review how and where additional growth can be accommodated, in the city, and the impacts on Infrastructure Master Plans.
The City of Hamilton wants to hear from citizens about their thoughts on:
- Growth through intensification and an appropriate intensification target for the city
- Density of development in the city’s greenfield (new development) areas and an appropriate density target for these areas
- Draft results of the Employment Land Review (review of the City’s employment lands to determine if any lands should be converted to a non-employment use)
- The elements to consider when evaluating different growth areas
