Southcote Road reconstruction project beginning next week
HAMILTON, ON – On Monday, January 9, 2023, the City of Hamilton will close both directions of Southcote Rd between the 403 overpass and Calder St for approximately three months in order to begin the first phase of the Southcote Rd reconstruction project.
This first phase of the project is expected to wrap up by mid-April, weather permitting.
During the first phase of work, motorists should detour around the closure using Kitty Murray Ln and John Frederick Dr to access Garner Rd and Golf Links Rd.
Following completion of the first phase, the next phase of work will proceed in April between Calder St and Garner Rd W for approximately seven months, wrapping up in November 2023. The scope of work includes:
- Road widening and reconstruction,
- Storm sewer replacement/installation,
- Watermain reconstruction/installation,
- Multi-use path and sidewalk installation,
- Road resurfacing and associated works,
- The addition of three pedestrian crossings
During this time, intermittent closures will take place as the City progresses southerly towards Garner Rd W. Residents in the area will be advised of these impacts in advance.
No HSR Routes will be impacted as part of this work.
The City of Hamilton thanks motorists, pedestrians and cyclists for their patience as we complete these important infrastructure improvements.
