Statement by Mayor Fred Eisenberger on the passing of Bill Scandlan
HAMILTON, ON - It is with sadness that we learned of the passing of Bill Scandlan, one of our community’s most dedicated and respected councillors and union leaders.
Bill began work at Stelco in 1942 at age 17 and tirelessly served his fellow workers in various leadership roles with Local 1005 and as area director of the United Steel Workers of America.
Bill was a dedicated member of council representing Ward 3 and 7 from 1964-1976.
Bill passed away in his 95th year with his family by his side.

Bill’s family will be hosting a celebration of life on October 27th from 11 am to 2 pm at Michelangelo Events and Conference Centre at 1555 Upper Ottawa St. The flag at City Hall will be lowered to half-staff on Friday, October 25.
