Stone Church Road closed at Garth Street until late August
HAMILTON, ON - July 21, 2017 - As part of ongoing improvements on Hamilton’s west mountain, Stone Church Road will be closed to all through traffic at Garth Street for approximately six weeks beginning Monday, July 24, 2017.
The entire intersection at Stone Church Road and Garth Street will be reconstructed and improved in two stages – traffic routing along Garth Street will be adjusted part way through the closure to allow crews safe access to both sides of the intersection.
Stage one
From July 24 until mid-August, the west side of the intersection will be closed. Traffic will travel in a single lane in each direction along Garth Street on the east side of the road. There will be access to and from West 5th Street during this period.
Stage two
From mid-August to late August, the east side of the intersection will be closed. Traffic will travel in a single lane in each direction along Garth Street on the west side of the road. There will be access to and from Upper Paradise Road during this period.
Motorists should use alternate routes and expect delays in the area.
HSR Route #43 Stone Church will be on detour throughout the closure. Details are available at www.hamilton.ca/hsrdetours. The detour route will change in mid-August to accommodate adjustments to traffic routing through the intersection.
The City of Hamilton thanks residents for their patience and cooperation as we complete these upgrades.
