Summit will bring together Residents, Partners and City to make Our Future Hamilton a Reality
HAMILTON, ON – March 29, 2016 - On April 22, 2016, the media and the public are invited to attend the Our Future Hamilton Summit 2016, a free morning workshop to bring together Hamilton’s community partners, business leaders, residents, and City staff to discuss how we can work together to make Our Future Hamilton a reality.
In 2015, the City of Hamilton asked its residents ‘What is your vision for the future of Hamilton?' Through a variety of engagement opportunities, nearly 50,000 residents provided their ideas, hopes and dreams for the future of their city.
Attendees will hear what residents are saying they want for Hamilton, and how work is already underway in the community to realize Hamilton’s new 25 year vision. According to Hamilton’s Mayor, Fred Eisenberger, our success depends on collaboration, “We all have a role to play in making Our Future Hamilton a reality. And through events like this, we can continue to work together with our community partners, key institutions and residents to share ideas, track our progress and continue to move our city forward - together.”

Background: Our Future Hamilton
In 1992, the City of Hamilton asked residents - what will Hamilton look like in 25 years? The result was Vision 2020 - Hamilton’s current community vision and the catalyst for significant progress in Hamilton in the areas of arts and heritage, reducing and managing waste, improving air quality, improving water quality and protecting natural areas. In 2015, the City once again asked residents: what is your vision for the future of Hamilton? Over 50,000 people from across the city shared their ideas, hopes and dreams to create a new 25 year vision for the community.
