Update: Northbound Lanes on the Claremont Escarpment Access Closed Until Further Notice - November 30
HAMILTON, ON – November 30, 2016 – To ensure public safety, the closure of the northbound lanes on the Claremont escarpment access has been extended until further notice.
The City will be implementing immediate changes to help alleviate the traffic inconveniences this closure will cause. These changes will include adjusting traffic signals and modifying lane configurations.
Yesterday, while crews worked to repair and remove portions of a damaged bin wall, they observed movement on the escarpment slope and consequently stopped work in the area. The City will be collaborating with escarpment slope experts to re-assess the plan to rehabilitate the area to ensure the access is safe for motorists today and for the future.
Currently, the northbound (downbound) lanes are closed from Upper James at Inverness Avenue through to Victoria Ave. More information on traffic adjustments will follow.
The City thanks motorists for their patience and cooperation as we work to ensure continued public safety along the escarpment roadways.
