Waterfront Trail Closed at the Desjardins Canal Next Week
HAMILTON, ON – November 25, 2016 – Beginning Monday, Hamilton’s Waterfront Trail will be closed at the Desjardins Canal (near the York Blvd Stairs) for the installation of a new rail bridge.
The Waterfront Trail will be completely closed to pedestrians and cyclists at the Desjardins Canal between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. on between Monday, November 28 and Friday, December 2, 2016. There will be no access to or from the Desjardins Recreational Trail during the day until construction is complete.
Detour and bridge closure signs will be posted at the entrances to the Desjardins Recreational Trail (near Longwood Road N) and the Waterfront Trail (at Bayfront Park) to notify users of the closure.
The work will facilitate the installation of a third rail track to allow for increased operational flexibility between Hamilton and Aldershot.
The trail is expected to re-open on the afternoon of December 2, 2016.
