West leg of Sherman Access to close Thursday for two weeks
HAMILTON, ON - March 13, 2017 – To safely prepare for the remediation of retaining structures along the access, the City of Hamilton will close the west leg of the Sherman Access in both directions beginning this Thursday for two weeks.
The work will begin Thursday, March 16, 2017 at 9 am and is expected to wrap up on or before the evening of Wednesday, March 29, 2017, weather permitting. The entire west leg of the access will be closed to motorists and cyclists between the Sherman cut intersection and Charlton Street. The east leg of the Sherman Access will remain open.
During the closure, City crews and contractors will be conducting geotechnical investigations to learn more about rock conditions and gather other information needed to design a plan to remediate the retaining structures along the access.
The City thanks motorists for their patience and cooperation as we work to ensure continued public safety along the escarpment roadways.
