Learn about local military history where it happened! Battery Lodge, which is now home to The Hamilton Military Museum was used as a guardhouse for Dundurn Castle during the 1837 Rebellion. Explore this part of the building’s exciting history in the brand-new exhibit opening this weekend!
This exhibit recreates the original guard room used by MacNab’s militia while exploring the issues that led to rebellion and the fate of those who participated. While at Battery Lodge, visitors will have the opportunity to dress up and take photos at our uniform station, meet soldiers dressed in period uniforms, and decorate their very own Rebellion Boxes.
