A call for nominations and Volunteer Judges brings Trillium Award season into full bloom
HAMILTON, ON –The City of Hamilton is calling for Trillium Award nominations, an award which promotes community pride by recognizing residents who contribute to a more attractive neighbourhood by landscaping and maintaining their property.
All property owners, whether residential or commercial, can participate at no cost. Residents are encouraged to nominate any property including their own if it appears worthy of a Trillium Award by June 1, 2019. Nominated residents have a chance at winning in a variety of categories including the White, Pink and Red Trillium Award.
Every year, the Hamilton Trillium Awards program is made possible by the hundreds of volunteers who contribute their time to judge nominated properties in Hamilton. Residents interested in becoming a Volunteer Judge receive training on how to recognize award eligibility and are provided with the materials needed to select an award-winning property.
Volunteer Judges visit each nominated property and decide based on the following criteria:
- Curb appeal
- Landscape maintenance
- Landscape design principles and elements
- Elements of design
Residents interested in becoming a Volunteer Judge can register and attend a Trillium Award Training Workshop on June 13, 2019 at the Hamilton Spectator Auditorium.
