City cleans up oil spill in Hamilton Harbour near Bayfront Park
HAMILTON, ON – City of Hamilton crews are cleaning up and investigating after a small oil spill was discovered in the water near Bayfront Park yesterday afternoon. While the spill is small and isolated in an area near the foot of the Waterfront Trail close to Bayfront Park, the City is taking steps to ensure it is properly cleaned up.

- Absorbent pads and a small boom are being used to contain and absorb the oily material
- Crews will continue monitoring the area today.
- The spill was approximately 6ft. by 30ft.
- At this time, the cause of the spill is unknown.
- The City’s initial investigations indicate there are no malfunctions or issues related to the wastewater infrastructure in this area.
- The City has notified the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks about the spill.
