City of Hamilton 2020 Arts Awards Online Presentation
Hamilton, ON - Celebrate Hamilton’s resilient arts community by watching the City of Hamilton 2020 Arts Awards online on June 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20 at 7 pm. The awards will be presented in a series of dynamic videos to be released as part of Hamilton Arts Week. Join host Laura Ellis and City officials for five episodes honouring 61 Arts Awards nominees, announcing award recipients, and featuring exciting artist profiles and performances.

The episodes will air on multiple online platforms and will feature award presentations, expanded nominee profiles, interviews and virtual studio visits with award recipients, and messages from Mayor Eisenberger and City Councillors. Laura Ellis, Host of Cable 14’s Backstage Pass, will guide viewers through each episode with her in-depth knowledge of Hamilton’s arts community.
The video series will feature two headliner performances by eminent local artists. The kick-off episode will conclude with a performance by Hamilton Youth Poets exploring the theme of Resilience. The series will close with a special performance by emo dream pop artist ELLIS whose tour of debut album Born Again was postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Episode 2 – Sun. June 14, 7 pm
Awards in Theatre, Visual Art and Fine Craft.
Episode 3 – Tues. June 16, 7 pm
Awards in Arts Management, Dance & Performing Arts, and Media Arts.
Episode 4 – Thurs. June 18, 7 pm
Awards in Writing, Music, and the Shirley Elford Emerging Artist Prize in Arts Education & Community Arts.
Episode 5 – Sat, June 20, 7 pm
Arts Innovation award, messages from City of Hamilton leadership, and a special performance by emo dream pop artist ELLIS.
Quick Facts
- Five video presentations will be screened on the Arts Awards Facebook Page and on Hometown Hub at 7 pm on June 12, 14, 16, 18 and 20.
