City of Hamilton Amazon HQ2 bid heads off to Seattle
HAMILTON, ON - October 19, 2017 - The City of Hamilton’s robust HQ2 bid is on its way today to Amazon’s Seattle headquarters. Hamilton’s comprehensive bid, developed on time and budget, demonstrates Hamilton is where Amazon should invest its $5 billion dollars in capital expenditures and estimated 50,000 jobs over the next ten to 15 years.
Hamilton’s bid highlights the key assets and attributes of the city and region: a location with high connectivity to transit and goods transport, an excellent and affordable quality of life, a vibrant arts, culture and culinary scene, world class health-care and education and ready access to a highly educated and skilled labour force.
Bids for Amazon’s HQ2 are due today to Amazon, which has signalled it will be making a decision in 2018.
“This kind of economic development opportunity is perfectly timed with the continual emergence of business and creative transformation underway in the City of Hamilton. The work that's been done for this bid will provide long-term benefit to our community helping to leverage future investment, employment, prosperity and growth." - Mayor Fred Eisenberger
