City of Hamilton and Clean Air Hamilton present the 10th biennial Upwind Downwind Conference: “Hands on Hamilton: Our Air Quality”
HAMILTON, ON – The media and members of the public are invited to attend the City of Hamilton and Clean Air Hamilton’s 10th Biennial Upwind Downwind Conference on Monday, March 5, 2018 at 8 a.m. at the Sheraton Hotel.
This year’s conference will focus on the much anticipated results of the Hamilton’s Airshed Model that was completed by Golder Associates. The Hamilton Airshed Modelling System (HAMS) aims to determine the nature and contribution of various local and non-local sources of pollutants impacting the air quality in Hamilton.
The Upwind Downwind Conference is one of, if not the largest event on air quality in Ontario. It brings together leading experts and professionals in the fields of air quality and public health to facilitate discussion and build stronger partnerships to address complex air quality issues in Hamilton and across the province.
Clean Air Hamilton in partnership with the Hamilton Industrial Environmental Association will also be hosting a free community Clean Air Fair event before the conference on Sunday March 4, 2018 at the Cotton Factory from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. The Hamilton community are encouraged to attend this free event to learn more about air quality monitoring in Hamilton and actions they can take to protect their health.
The City of Hamilton and Clean Air Hamilton is pleased to welcome representatives and presentations from Golder Associates on Hamilton’s Airshed Modelling System, the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change and Public Health Ontario. City of Hamilton’s Mayor Fred Eisenberger will join Dr. Bruce Newbold, Chair of Clean Air Hamilton and Dr. Elizabeth Richardson City of Hamilton’s medical officer of health in providing welcome remarks.
