City of Hamilton hits record-setting milestone: $1 billion in building permits in nine months

Hamilton, ON - October 3, 2017 - The City of Hamilton’s Chief Building Official, Ed VanderWindt, announced today that the city has officially surpassed $1 billion dollars’ worth of construction for 2017 - $1,003,737,444 as of September 29, 2017. 

The $1 billion target represents 6,606 building projects in the residential, institutional, commercial and industrial sectors. The target was achieved in only nine months.

This marks the seventh and sixth consecutive time over the last eight years where the City has hit the billion dollar mark. It is also one of the leading Ontario cities to do so this year. It also marks the earliest point in a year that the City hit this significant milestone.
