See your Canada 150-Hamilton 2017 experience: Legacy assets captured from Signature Events
Hamilton, ON - October 2, 2017 - In 2017, Hamilton joins cities across the country to celebrate Canada’s 150th year as a nation. During the summer months, the City of Hamilton celebrated this significant anniversary through the promotion of key signature events such as Dundurn’s Golden Anniversary, Air Force Day at the Canadian Warplane Heritage Museum, the Rendez-vous 2017 Tall Ships Regatta, and the Quilt of Belonging exhibit.
“This year, Hamilton joins cities across the country to celebrate Canada’s 150th year as a nation. This important anniversary offers us all a chance to reflect on our city’s contributions to the growth of our nation – from our proud industrial roots to the exciting revitalization transforming our city. It’s also a chance to imagine the kind of city we want to build moving forward.” - Fred Eisenberger, Mayor, City of Hamilton
Now, Hamiltonians can look back and reminisce about the Canada 150-Hamilton 2017 Signature Events as they themselves experienced them, through legacy videos and images now available for public viewing.
These user-generated assets were made possible through a partnership with Wesley Urban Ministries’ The Great Hamilton Scavenger Hunt – an app-based adventure that encouraged people to explore 150 Hamilton landmarks, festivals, events and quintessential Hamilton, Canadian and summer experiences from June 9 through September 12, 2017.
Participants used the app to acquire points by fulfilling objectives, including taking selfie images and videos describing their ‘ideal future Canada’. A compilation of footage can be viewed on a video featured on the City’s website, along with additional footage and information related to the Signature Events.
