City of Hamilton reminds residents to obey the rules of the roundabout as part of its Vision Zero campaign

HAMILTON, ON – Today, the City of Hamilton is launching a month-long campaign aimed at educating drivers about the rules of the roundabout. The “Roundabout Safety” campaign is part of the world-wide Vision Zero initiative.

In collaboration with Hamilton Police Services, the City of Hamilton is reminding drivers to yield to pedestrians, cyclists and any traffic already travelling through the roundabout. Motorists are reminded to always slow down, proceed with caution and signal when exiting the roundabout.

The City will continue to implement Vision Zero practices in order to make Hamilton the safest place to raise a child and age successfully.

“Our hope is to use Vision Zero as an opportunity to transform the way we travel across the city. By educating and engaging with residents, the City aims to reach its goal of having zero fatalities or serious injuries on roadways. Throughout October, the City and Hamilton Police will be reinforcing to motorists, cyclists and pedestrians the rules for interacting at a roundabout, which will help to improve traffic safety and bring us closer to implementing Vision Zero in Hamilton.”
