City of Hamilton volunteers “Team Up to Clean Up” more than ever before
HAMILTON, ON - June 6, 2017 - The City of Hamilton is cleaner today because of the efforts of many. An impressive number of residents volunteered to clean up our city this spring. Nearly 21,000 volunteers rolled up their sleeves and collected more than 7,600 bags of garbage and recyclable materials. It’s all part of the City of Hamilton’s Team Up to Clean Up spring blitz this year. It was a significant increase from last year. This shows how successful the year round program has become. Interested? Residents can register year round at a time that is convenient for them on the Team Up to Clean Up.
The City of Hamilton is part of a national campaign to #Clean Canada Together to honour Canada’s 150th birthday. Ten municipalities across the country took part in a friendly competition to see who could clean up the most litter. Hamilton ranked second place with its impressive number of volunteers.
Environment Week begins today, June 5 to June 11, 2017. This week is a time for all residents to band together to help preserve, protect and restore our environment. Team Up to Clean Up is a fine example of how our community cares about their city.

"As a member of the KHCG Committee, I wish to particularly thank and praise the enormous "Escarpment Project" that engages hundreds of volunteers at various locations across the City through the leadership of Greg Lenko. Because of efforts such as this, our own citizens and visitors/tourists alike, are discovering, more and more, the beauty and immense majesty so many locations of our great City offer to all that wish to explore!” Tom Jackson, Ward 6 Councillor
