City launches online memorial to pay tribute to residents who passed away of COVID-19
HAMILTON, ON – Today, the City of Hamilton is launching an online presence to memorialize Hamilton residents who have lost their lives due to COVID-19.
The Hamilton Remembers: COVID-19 virtual memorial allows family members of those who have passed away from COVID-19 to submit a brief message and photo to pay tribute to their loved one. The message and photo will be posted on the City’s website at www.hamilton.ca/covid-virtual-memorial.
In Hamilton, over 300 residents have died as a result of COVID-19, and the online memorial provides an opportunity for our community and local families to honour and celebrate the lives of those we have lost.
How to participate
Families who have lost a loved one to COVID-19 can submit their message and photo online at www.hamilton.ca/covid-virtual-memorial. City staff are managing the memorial, reviewing and publishing submissions as they are received.
An awareness campaign about the online memorial will run throughout the next few months to gather submissions.
