Construction beginning at Confederation Beach Park
HAMILTON, ON – This week, the City of Hamilton is beginning work on the transformation of the 93-hectare (230-acre) Confederation Beach Park located along Hamilton’s east-end waterfront as part of a multi-year plan to redevelop the park.
The park will ultimately be home to Hamilton’s first regulation cricket field, a multi-use sports field, 12 outdoor pickleball courts, a fieldhouse and more.
The first stages of construction will include site servicing, sports fields and courts, tree planting and the installation of new parking areas. The City expects this first stage of construction to be complete by winter 2019, weather permitting.
The waterfront trails will remain open. Construction fencing will be placed around construction sites. There will be no lane closures due to construction, however, residents may experience slower than normal traffic during construction. Traffic control will be in place.
Residents affected by the construction have been notified.
City-wide parks are meant to appeal to those with widely varying needs and interests, and service residents and visitors from Hamilton and surrounding areas.
