Fall 2020 Compost Giveaway
HAMILTON, ON - This weekend, the City of Hamilton is hosting a free compost giveaway at Turner Park and the Brampton Public Works Yard.
Each week throughout the year, the City picks up residents’ yard waste as part of the curbside yard waste collection program. After it’s picked up, it’s processed and turned into nutrient-rich compost. As a thank you for participating in the yard waste program, the City gives some of the compost back to residents to use on vegetable gardens, flower beds and lawns.
Residents are asked to bring their own buckets or containers, shovel, and elbow grease to the giveaway location running from 7 to 11 am (while quantities last).
This year, residents are asked to limit the amount of people in their vehicle to two and to limit their loading time to 15 minutes.
Compost giveaway events:
- Saturday, October 3, 2020
- Turner Park, 344 Rymal Road East, Hamilton
- Brampton Public Works Yard, 2200 Brampton Street, Hamilton
The compost is for use by residents and is not intended for commercial businesses.
