Hamilton celebrates 2018 National Tree Day with $25,000 grant
September 27, 2018 - HAMILTON, ON – What better way is there to celebrate National Tree Day than by planting trees? Thanks to a generous grant from CN, in partnership with Tree Canada, the City of Hamilton received funding to plant over one hundred native species at the Johnson Tew Arboretum – Hamilton’s first City-owned arboretum.
Selected municipalities match the grant to enhance the overall project and trees being planted.

- The CN EcoConnexions From the Ground Up program, is sponsored by CN in partnership with Tree Canada. It provides funding of up to $25,000 for the greening of Canadian municipalities and Indigenous communities.
- Since 2012, the CN EcoConnexions From the Ground Up program has planted over 90,000 trees and shrubs through almost 200 community projects across the country.
- The City of Hamilton contributed $25,000 to match the grant from CN and Tree Canada.
