Hamilton City Council ratifies agreement with CUPE Local 5167
Hamilton, ON — Today, Hamilton City Council ratified the collective agreement the City tentatively reached with Local 5167 of the Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) on August 18, 2023 that was ratified by the CUPE Local 5167 membership on September 1, 2023.
The four-year agreement, which covers January 1, 2023 to December 31, 2026, ensures fairness to employees, taxpayers and continued delivery of City services to our community.
The agreement includes increased remuneration of CUPE 5167 employees including a wage increase of 3.75 per cent in the first year, and a three per cent increase in the second, third and fourth years of the contract.
The City recognizes and appreciates the dedication and hard work of unionized employees, whose contributions are integral to the programs and services that Hamiltonians rely on.
