Hamilton COVID-19 vaccination program mobile vaccine clinics update

HAMILTON, ON – The Hamilton healthcare partners are bringing the COVID-19 vaccine to even more residents of Hamilton by offering an additional 40 mobile clinics in neighbourhood locations across the city.
Hamilton Public Health Services remains committed to the Last Mile Strategy with the priority being administering both first and second doses of the COVID-19 vaccine and ensuring neighbourhoods with lower coverage rates have access to information tailored to their needs and vaccine that is accessible at convenient locations and times. In keeping with this commitment many of these clinics are located in areas of the city with lower vaccination coverage rates to improve access to the vaccine.
Individuals 12 years of age or older before the end of 2021 are eligible to receive a first or second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine and can walk-in to any of the below clinics. Appointments are required for third or booster doses.

With a return to more indoor settings as it gets cooler, it’s vital that Hamilton’s vaccination coverage continues to increase and that all Hamiltonians follow public health measures to reduce the spread of the virus.
There are many locations in Hamilton for community members born in 2009 and earlier to get their first and second dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, such as primary care-led clinics, mobile pop-up clinics and local pharmacies. First and second doses can be accessed both on a walk-in basis at many of these locations or by booking an appointment. Appointments are required for third or booster doses. Quick facts
- To date, Hamilton healthcare partners have administered 871,132 doses of COVD-19 vaccine – with 85.6 per cent of eligible Hamiltonians receiving a vaccine to date and 82.2 per cent fully vaccinated.
- Since January 2021, Hamilton healthcare partners have hosted 693 mobile pop-up clinics and 382 on-site mobile clinics. This includes 62 secondary school COVID-19 vaccine clinics hosted at 22 locations since August 12, 2021.
- On August 18, 2021, individuals born in 2009 and earlier became eligible to receive the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine.
- Hamilton Public Health Services is encouraged to see the reports from the middle of October (October 18, 2021) that Pfizer has formally requested approval from Health Canada for its COVID-19 vaccine for children aged five to 11. We now eagerly await Health Canada approval and recommendations from the National Advisory Committee on Immunization (NACI) and direction from the Ontario government, including vaccine supply and distribution.
