Cross-Canada clean-up effort
In recognition of Canada’s 150th anniversary, municipalities across the country are coming together for a cross-Canada clean-up effort. The goal is to keep Canada clean and beautiful for the next 150 years. #CleanCanadaTogether is a challenge to showcase the beauty of all our communities in our country. Participants include: Hamilton, Brampton, Brockville, Mississauga, Oakville, Toronto, Vaughan, Winnipeg, Vancouver, Edmonton and Nova Scotia.
“Continued beautification is a critical element to sustainable city building and all Hamiltonians have a role to play. If we lend a hand in our neighbourhoods, we set an example for others to do the same. The City of Hamilton provides grants and encourages residents to participate in green initiatives, find out today how you can get involved." Mayor Fred Eisenberger
More than 25,000 volunteers participated in Team Up to Clean Up last year. Volunteers collected 6,645 bags of garbage, 2700 bags of recycling and invested more than 45,000 hours to help clean up Hamilton. Grants of up to $1,000 are available, through the City of Hamilton, for clean-up projects and initiatives.
