Official opening celebration for William Connell City-Wide Park
HAMILTON, ON – On Saturday, the City of Hamilton will celebrate the official grand opening of a brand new 20-hectare (49-acre) park located on West 5th between Stone Church Road W and Rymal Road W – the new William Connell City-Wide Park.
Mayor Eisenberger and Councillor Whitehead will welcome guests for an official ribbon cutting and photo opportunity.
This celebration will mark the completion of phase one of construction, which includes a new creative play structure, splash pad, sun shelter, tennis courts, multi-purpose court, a lit senior soccer field, a lit football field, pathways, nature trails, internal road way system and parking. It will also incorporate a large storm water management facility. Phase two of the project will include the construction of a field house with a concession stand, change rooms and storage.
City-wide parks are meant to appeal to those with widely varying needs and interests, and service residents and visitors from Hamilton and surrounding areas.
