Parking changes in effect June 1

HAMILTON, ON - May 31, 2017 - Effective June 1, 2017, several changes will be taking place affecting parking in the City of Hamilton. 

All Veterans who have been issued Ontario Veteran licence plates will be able to park at Hamilton municipal carparks and on-street meters for free for a maximum of three hours.

Also as of June 1, all on-street parking will increase from $1.00 per hour to $1.50 per hour.

Hamilton city council approved these changes at the March 29, 2017 meeting of council (see item 8.1 of March 23, 2017 General Issues Committee meeting).  

The public should note that after June 1, it will take a few days to update all of the parking meters – drivers are asked to pay attention to the parking rate shown inside the meter window.
