Statement by Mayor Eisenberger on former Hamilton Psychiatric Hospital Lands

HAMILTON, ON - It is a welcome sign that the Province is taking steps to develop this site, but it is our expectation that the site will be developed in accordance with the City’s vision. 

The City has a longstanding vision for the best uses for this site, developed over many years and in consultation with the community. Our vision is for new development that complements the existing institutions of Mohawk College and St. Joseph’s with a district that provides for additional institutional uses, including long term care housing, and that advances the educational and research sectors in the city.

I look forward to working with the Province to ensure this vision comes about in a way that benefits everyone.
