Talk Like a Pirate Day at the Hamilton Children’s Museum on September 16 - last event before month-long closure

Hamilton, ON - September 8, 2017 - Arr me matey! Shiver me timbers! On Saturday, September 16, 2017 the Hamilton Children’s Museum presents a day of adventure to celebrate International Talk Like a Pirate Day.

This will be the last event before the museum’s temporary closure. The museum will be closed from Monday, September 18, 2017 to Friday, October 20, 2017 to put the finishing touches on exhibit changes that have been ongoing all summer.

Talk Like a Pirate Day at the Children’s Museum invites the public to:

• “Practice yer Pirate Talk”
• Dress up like a pirate and get your face painted
• Partake in pirate games and activities
• Enjoy pirate treats 

To help us celebrate, the Great Big Theatre Company will be at the museum from 11 am to 2 pm for some fine shanty singing. Dress up like a pirate and get free admission.

About the Hamilton Children’s Museum

The Hamilton Children’s Museum invites visitors to touch, build, experiment, invent, and imagine in a friendly, child-centred setting. The museum, housed in a former Gage family home, has been stimulating curiosities and providing opportunities for family learning for over 30 years.

In a future exhibit, being completed during the closure, there will be a ship to sail on, a harbour to fish from and a market stall to sell or buy goods. The ship’s galley kitchen is getting bigger with more cookware and more pretend food. Soon, your family will be able to create feasts. There will also be a gallery dedicated to building to inspire open-ended learning activities for hours.
