Tesla Electric City Festival at the Hamilton Museum of Steam & Technology
Hamilton, ON – In celebration of the 120th anniversary of hydro-electricity coming to Hamilton, The Nikola Tesla Educational Corporation and the City of Hamilton invite the public to experience the Hamilton Tesla Electric City Festival at the Hamilton Museum of Steam & Technology on Sun. Aug. 26, from 11am to 5 pm.
This FREE family-friendly celebration of Hamilton’s history and the inventions of Nikola Tesla, features a variety of activities and attractions. Families can catch a free ride on the popular Golden Horseshoe Live Steamer trains, build a glider in the hands-on Make and Take Zone, see Tesla and other electric vehicles, and discover the History of Hamilton and the Five Johns. Attendees will experience 3-D printing, robotics, student science fair exhibits, the Tesla Coil, Tesla Virtual Reality, musical entertainment, a free museum visit, and a whole host of other activities.
The festival brings together educators, science clubs, students, vendors and demonstrators of all ages, and provides a venue for these inspired people to showcase new technology and share their knowledge of Hamilton’s history and the ideas and inventions of Nikola Tesla.
Courtesy of Staedtler, the first 1,000 school aged children will receive complimentary back-to-school gift packages. Those who pre-register online at www.teslaeducational.ca receive up to two Staedtler gift packages.
About Hamilton Museum of Steam & Technology
Witness the social and mechanical life of Canada’s early industrial revolution. Housed in a 154-year-old Waterworks, this National Historic Site preserves two 70-ton steam engines, perhaps the oldest surviving Canadian-built engines. The historic Hamilton Waterworks is a Civil and Power Engineering Landmark. Guided tours of the 1859 Waterworks are available from 12 noon to 4 pm. The museum is open year-round: Tues. to Sun. 12 noon to 4 pm. Regular admission rates are: adults $7; seniors/students $6; children $5; infants free; family $20.
