Tourism Hamilton User Generated Campaign Wins Provincial Marketing Award
HAMILTON, ON – The City of Hamilton’s Tourism and Culture Division has won a provincial marketing award for its user-generated #MyHamilton campaign.
The award was announced at the 2018 Ontario Tourism Awards of Excellence Gala at the annual Ontario Tourism Summit, hosted by Destination Ontario and the Tourism Industry Association of Ontario on Tues. Oct. 24 in Windsor, Ontario.
The winning tourism campaign (in the under $50K category) sought to leverage the city’s growing popularity by transforming its many visitors and explorers into travel ambassadors.
The multifaceted campaign encouraged the creation and submission of Hamilton stories, photos and social media posts from travellers and locals alike - all rallying around the #MyHamilton hashtag and showcasing the best of the city. The campaign included:
- The #MyHamilton photo contest.
- Compelling storytelling through #MyHamilton guest bloggers and influencer partnerships.
- A successful push to increase use of the #MyHamilton hashtag on social media, with more than 22,000 posts tagged #MyHamilton on Instagram alone.
