Update on Rosslyn Retirement Residence
HAMILTON, ON - On May 10, 2020 Hamilton Public Health Services declared an outbreak of COVID-19 at the Rosslyn Retirement Home in Hamilton.
Based on an increase in the number of positive cases in recent days and significant staffing challenges, six staff and one physician from St. Joseph’s Healthcare Hamilton (SJHH) and Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS) have been deployed to the facility to assess patients’ health conditions and facilitate the safe transfer of patients to hospital, as required. Patient transfers began at 4:45 pm today. The patients will go to SJHH’s Charlton site and HHS’ Hamilton General Hospital site. Transfers are expected to take about six hours. Families are being notified of the situation.
As of 4:30 pm today:
- 49 residents confirmed COVID-19 positive
- 13 staff confirmed COVID-19 positive
- 8 people hospitalized (prior to decanting)
- one death
There are 16 pending results and we are still processing positive results. Further updates will be provided as the situation evolves.
