Woodward Wastewater Treatment Plant bypass mode initiated last night due to storm activity
HAMILTON, ON - Beginning at 11:47 pm last night, the Woodward Wastewater Treatment Plant briefly entered by-pass mode, wrapping up at 2:40 am. after heavy rain.
Bypasses occur in wet weather, when the amount of wastewater entering the sewer system exceeds the capacity of the Woodward Wastewater Treatment Plant. Last night’s brief storm weather exceeded the capacity of the treatment plant. It did not impact any of the combined sewer overflow (CSO) tanks.
Once treatment plant bypass and tank overflows are complete, information about the duration and volume is added to the website at www.hamilton.ca/wastewatermonitoring
