Woodward Wastewater Treatment Plant currently bypassing due to extreme wet weather
HAMILTON, ON - Beginning at 10:36 am this morning, the Woodward Wastewater Treatment Plant entered by-pass mode.
Bypasses occur in extreme wet weather, when the amount of wastewater entering the sewer system exceeds the capacity of the Woodward Wastewater Treatment Plant. Today’s wet weather and melting snow has exceeded the capacity of the treatment plant.
This is the second bypass to occur since the City’s new enhanced public notification protocol came into effect last month. Going forward, the City will publish a brief PSA within 24 hours of a bypass event at the Woodward Wastewater Treatment Plant.
