Your experience matters. City of Hamilton shared the Hamilton Anti-Racism Resource Centre survey results
HAMILTON, ON – Today, City of Hamilton staff and community partners presented the survey findings and key community recommendations for the Hamilton Anti-Racism Resource Centre, as well as engaged participants in a focus group exercise.
The survey was conducted from July 3 to September 15, 2019 to collect community input to better understand the lived experiences and current needs of the community due to racism related issues faced by residents. The City has implemented a community engagement plan that has being developed in an effort to establish a more robust and relevant program for the residents of the City of Hamilton.
Feedback that was given by the community to City staff during the October 29th focus groups, as well as the survey findings will be consolidated as alternatives for consideration for City Council. The Committee Against Racism Volunteer Advisory Committee members will review recommendations and provide their recommendations via a Citizen Committee Report. City staff will prepare a Recommendation Report and present to Audit, Finance & Administration Sub Committee on December 5, 2019.

- The Hamilton Anti-Racism Resource Centre (HARRC), a pilot project involving the City of Hamilton, McMaster University, and the Hamilton Centre for Civic Inclusion (HCCI) is undergoing revitalization and would like input from the community.
- HARRC was launched on April 4, 2018 as a pilot project to gather information regarding racism related issues occurring in Hamilton, in order to better inform Council on community issues and concerns so that it may address racism and racism related issues in our City.
- On February 14, 2019 the HARRC pilot program was temporarily paused for a period of up to 12 months to allow the partners to review and renew plans to achieve its envisioned goals.
