Bus News Summer 2022
Mask requirements remain in effect on public transit until June 11. After this date, masks are still welcome aboard.
Summer Schedule Highlights
- The summer schedule will operate beginning Sunday, June 26 until Saturday, September 3.
- Weekday summer schedules will operate on routes 3, 6, 7, 8, 21, 22, 23, 24, 25, 26, 33, 34, 35 and 41.
- All other routes will operate regular weekday schedules, except Route 10 B-Line which will operate every 10 minutes during peak periods and every 15 minutes during non-peak periods.
- Additional running time was added to Routes 41 Mohawk and 44 Rymal weekday schedules to improve schedule reliability for customers.
Holiday service
- Friday, July 1 (Canada Day) – Buses will operate a Sunday service level
- Monday, August 1 (Civic Holiday)- Buses will operate a Sunday service level
Seasonal Routes
- Route 9 Rock Gardens (Sundays and holidays) will continue to operate during the summer.
- Route 51 University (Weekdays and Saturdays) will not operate during the summer but will resume regular weekday service on Tuesday, September 6. This route will operate as a University Special with Saturday service level frequency during McMaster Orientation Week (Monday, August 29 to Saturday, September 3).
- Route 56 Centennial (Weekdays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays) will operate every 60 minutes between approximately 10 a.m. and 8 p.m., with service to Wild Waterworks.
- Route 99 Waterfront Shuttle (Weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays) will resume operation on Sunday, June 26.
- Stoney Creek Industrial Extra will operate one eastbound trip in the mornings and one westbound trip in the afternoons during the summer. This route will now extend to South Service Road and Lewis Road to service the various businesses in the area.

Double the fun for half the price with youth summer fares
This summer, youth will be able to take advantage of 50%-off discounted fares compared to regular youth fares on public transit in Hamilton. This will apply to single rides and monthly passes when using a PRESTO card set for a youth fare category or PRESTO E-Tickets (single rides only) during the months of June, July and August. Photo ID is required (school or government).
Having fun isn’t hard when you’ve got a library (and PRESTO) card!
Visit any HPL branch and show your child’s library card to get a free child’s PRESTO card, while quantities last. You will not need to load any money onto your card. Simply bring your new card and proof of your child’s birthday to any HSR Customer Service Centre, City Hall, Services Centres in Ancaster, Dundas, or Stoney Creek, or any Fortinos or Shoppers Drug Mart to set it up and you’ll be on your way!
Children ages 6-12 using PRESTO ride free on HSR and Accessible Transportation Services (ATS/DARTS) until April 30, 2023. While children do not require an ID to use a child PRESTO card, a new free photo ID is available at the Hamilton GO Centre (36 Hunter Street East) for children who may look mature for their age. Children may also use any government-issued ID to prove their age.

Earn free fare faster with improved loyalty rewards
Youth, adults and seniors can enjoy free fare after eight trips until December 22 with HSR’s enhanced PRESTO loyalty rewards. Visit hamilton.ca/ReadyToRide for more information about HSR’s fare promotions.
Climb any mountain
All HSR buses have bike racks. Bring your bike on HSR for a free ride up or down the escarpment. Look for our Mountain Climber signs at stops closest to the top or bottom of the access. Learn more about the Mountain Climber Program.
Coming this summer
Some bus stop numbers are changing
Our stops often have several routes that pass by. Some of these stops have multiple bus stop numbers for different routes. This summer, those stops will now have a single bus stop number. When you call Bus Check or text us for your next bus, you may need to use a different number for your stop. HSR notices will be posted at impacted stops, so please check your bus stop pole to find out if your stop number has changed.
