City launches its first-ever comprehensive performance report
UPDATE: In 2022, the City of Hamilton replaced the Trust & Confidence Report with the City Dashboard. The City Dashboard shares information about our community, the services the City provides, and the City's strategic priorities.
HAMILTON, ON - The first release of the City of Hamilton’s Trust and Confidence report launched to provide members of the community with an overview of current City services and regular quarterly updates on service performance.
The Trust and Confidence report highlights service information and performance measures for the 72 services the City provides. The report contains information about our community, our local economy and identifies the commitment the City is making to ensure the citizens of Hamilton see the value of their tax dollars.

A snap shot of facts from the report include:
- The City of Hamilton has one of the highest credit ratings of comparative municipalities in Ontario, AA+ (Stable).
- Hamilton’s unemployment rate has consistently outperformed the provincial and national average over the past five years.
- The trend for residential property tax increases is low: In 2017, the increase was 2.2 per cent. This is low compared to other municipalities.
- Between 2000 and 2015, the median income grew at a faster rate than the cost of common goods and services (Consumer Price Index).
- Since 2003, the City has been participating in the Municipal Benchmarking Network Canada (MBNCanada), which is a partnership between Canadian Municipalities who use data to enhance accountability, transparency and continuous improvement in service delivery.
- The City offers a wide variety of services to all citizens and businesses in the community including building inspections, recreation programming, transportation, garbage and organic waste collection, the Hamilton Fire Department, Hamilton Paramedic Service and many more.
