City searching for this year’s City Christmas Trees
HAMILTON, ON – The City of Hamilton is asking residents who are planning to cut down a spruce tree on their private property to donate it to the City as one of three centrepiece trees this holiday season. As is tradition, three trees will be selected for display at Gore Park, City Hall and Memorial Square in Dundas.
Donated trees must be at least 40 feet (12 metres) tall, in the front yard, accessible from the street and clear of overhead wires. The trees will be cut and transported at no cost to the owners.
Although it is a priority to grow Hamilton’s tree canopy, we know that trees may need to be removed due to a construction project or impacts to tree health caused by an insect or disease. As well, the City is encouraging those who donate a tree to take advantage of the City’s tree planting program to replace donated trees with a new one!
Residents who are looking to part ways with their front yard spruce tree should call 905-546-2424 ext. 4392.
